New national board forms, opens training course in radiological AI

"An educational outfit has sprung up to equip nonphysicians working in radiology—chiefly administrators, business managers and technologists—with radiologist-level fluency in AI.

The American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Radiology, or ABAIR, notified the press of its formation Aug. 17.

The organization’s primary offering is a two-day onsite course covering such topics as AI reimbursement strategies, HIPAA considerations, AI terminology, medicolegal concerns and IT principles as applied to AI in radiology, according to ABAIR’s website.

Upon completion of the course, enrollees passing a 75-question exam become certified in AI software in radiology (“AiRC-certified”).

Founding member Tom McLaughlin, RT, MBA, says the organization’s leadership team “feels strongly that additional education and certification provides medical professionals with essential tools to help their department effectively analyze the growing volume of AI technology becoming available to their facilities.”

In addition to the course and certification exam, ABAIR plans to offer “AiR” credits—a “unique way for attendees to build upon and further their knowledge of artificial intelligence,” the organization says in the announcement..." Lire la suite
