"Data science has made a quantum leap. While consumer-goods companies are already basing most of their promotional efforts on data insights, pharmaceuticals sales data is often highly anonymized due to data-privacy rules and multi-stage distribution channels. The amount of data available to generate insights into field efficiency and promotional success, however, is likewise enormous and valuable. Particularly in situations where the impact of field sales and marketing activities on prescription behavior cannot be made directly visible, data science can prove to be a game changer.
