Augmented Reality in Healthcare Will Be Revolutionary

Pokémon Go is undoubtedly the best known application of augmented reality (AR), a technology which is also revolutionizing healthcare. While virtual reality (VR) creates a 3D world completely detaching the user from reality, in AR the device transmits a live or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment which is augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. Some examples of AR in healthcare include: the AED4EU app which shows users where to find external defibrillators, the EyeDecide used in ophthalmology to demonstrate the impact of Cataract or AMD, the AccuVein app which assists nurses to find veins and apps to help surgeons become more efficient at surgeries.
